Trailer Talk: THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (2013)
For those not familliar with the “Trailer Talk” feature here at Blank Page Beatdown:
“Trailer Talk” is where I document my freak outs regarding upcoming films that I get super excited about. Or rip apart with my super critical bionic eye. It’s also an attempt to feature some films that may not get the attention they deserve prior to release, but movies definitely worth keeping an eye out for. Not the bionic one. Sometimes I make predictions, and we get to see if I’m right or wrong after the movie releases.”
Martin Scorsese + Leonardo DiCaprio + Kanye West = fuckin’ awesome.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Leo D. when he first arrived on the scene, but I’ve been converted into a die hard follower. Especially when his acting prowess is combined with one of the greatest filmmakers alive, Martin Scorsese. Over the years the two have kicked ass with some awesome movies… bringing us yet another one later this year in THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. Check out the Trailer below featuring a Kanye West track throughout.

So right away we know the movie is about money. Of course. The setting seems to be the slick 90’s style Wall Street Baracudas that we saw in AMERICAN PSYCHO. However, this movie seems anything but. Granted the way a Trailer is cut, could make the movie seem like anything… but would it be wrong to say this looks like a hi-fuckin-larious dramady based on real life incidents? I don’t know. I don’t care… I fuckin’ love it!
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET seems in your face as hell, as we’re introduced to Leonardo DiCaprio’s character as a Wall Street badass, bragging that it’s all illegal, while he plays hoops with crumpled $100 bills in his trash bin, chucking Lobsters at FBI Agents and making it rain from a Yatch. A few of the very cool and edgy scenes in this Trailer.
After a very good recent track in his movies, Matthew McConaughey is also in this, although I can’t tell if he’s just a cameo or if he has a full blown role. Jonah Hill seems to be DiCaprio’s sidekick, as he was to Brad Pitt in MONEYBALL. Fans of THE WALKING DEAD will also notice Jon Bernthal in an appearance sporting a massive ‘stache! The trailer continues with some amazing dance moves by DiCaprio, fist pumping humming sessions, and a Blonde with bundles of money taped to her almost naked body.
Despite the comedic awesome-ness, the rest of the Trailer shows a montage of, what looks to be, intensely serious scenes, in a sort of ‘rise and fall’ of this character, as expected with such a story. If the movie holds true to the tone portrayed in the Trailer, we’re in for quite a treat from Martin Scorsese, as I can’t recall him doing a full blown ‘funny’ movie of this type before. I could be wrong.
Let me know if I am below, as well as if you’re gonna be looking forward to THE WOLF OF WALL STREET when it releases on November 15th, 2013?

Crazy trailer but very excited. I think Leo toasting a glass is his new go-to-catch…. gimmick?

You mean like Jack Nicholson’s shades, McConaughey’s shirt removals, Andrew Garfields… hair? 😐
Good eye Nick.

Yes. Garfield’s hair is not there YET, but it’s close. Soon.
