Trailer Talk: THE COUNSELOR (2013)
So after the massive disappointment that was PROMETHEUS, iconic Director Ridley Scott returns with a massive star cast in a movie that looks pretty fuckin’ amazing… from the Trailer at least. Check out the new Trailer for THE COUNSELOR below…
This is a fast paced Trailer that wastes no time in showing us how badass this movie might be. There’s 5 seconds of a set up showing a happy couple played by Michael Fassbender and the always cute Penelope Cruz. Cut to (literally) a guy on a bike getting ambushed. Following which, awesome-ness ensues.
If nothing else, the cast and makers of THE COUNSELOR are fan-damn-tastic. We see rushes of everyone with ambiguously dramatic dialogue as voice overs, and everyone looking cool as crap. Brad Pitt arrives with a Bohemian GQ look, along with Javier Bardem, who I can only assume is playing the bad guy, because his hairstyle seems to be an homage to Sonic the Hedgehog. Cameron Diaz, looking hot as ever, shares a pool scene with Cruz where she suspiciously… strokes her. Add to that everyone looking into the camera with intense looks that imply… something or the other… and it’s all very adrenaline pumpingly mysterious.
Based on what little the Trailer shows us, and knowing nothing of the movie beforehand, I can simply assume that THE COUNSELOR revolves a John Grisham style story where Fassbender is a plain Joe Suit (lawyer, stockbroker, etc) with a loving wife / exotic girlfriend, who gets tangled up in some mess involving drug dealers and other criminals of the cool & chic variety, which would explains Pitt’s suit.
But who really gives a crap given that it’s Ridley freakin’ Scott with some of the best talent in Hollywood right now. OK, maybe not Cruz or Diaz… but the rest. I can’t wait to see more when THE COUNSELOR releases on October 25th, 2013. How about you?
