Trailer Talk: MARCH 2015

Published by Shah Shahid on

After a somewhat dry February, March 2015 definitely offers a lot more range and selection for movie goers. Sequels, relationship stories, sci-fi, remakes and action fill up the month and it’s a probably the most releases of the year in one month of varying genres. Take a look at all the movies of this month, and let me know which movie you’re going to check out in theatres!

CHAPPIE (March 6th, 2015)

I can guarantee you right now, that there won’t be a dry eye during parts of this film. A sweet lovable robot with the innocence of a child, that some people want to destroy, and by the look of some scenes, they get close, will have people (even me) bawling in their seats. Exploiting our sensitivity for cute robots (Johnny-5, Wall-E) ‘Chappie’ looks to be treading the same path. Hugh Jackman looks like he’s playing a baddie in this, but I predict he’ll be a changed man by the 3rd act.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS (March 6th, 2015)

Vince Vaughan needs to stop. Yet another far fetched comedy with over the top club scenes, stupid partying and the same ol’ Vince Vaughan over and over again. Nothing about this movie seems original enough to warrant a watch, and this time he doesn’t even have Owen Wilson with him either. Pass!

CINDERELLA (March 13th, 2015)

This is quite possibly one of the worst trailers I’ve ever seen. Not because the movie looks bad, but for the fact that the entire story from beginning to end is described in the Trailer itself. Nothing is remained to be seen in theatres, especially the iconic scene of the transformation before the Ball, which has never been done in live action before. Everything is spoiled, making an average movie look that much more dull, and removing any interest in it whatsoever.

RUN ALL NIGHT (March 13th, 2015)

Liam Nesson picks up a gun again, but this time to save the life of his son, instead of his daughter. With the guy from the new ‘RoboCop’ movie along for the ride, this one looks not unlike Neeson’s usual action fares, but with the inclusion of Ed Harris, there might be a little something more to this. Let’s admit it, we’ll all watch this when it’s out On Demand.

THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT (March 20th, 2015)

The trailer for the next movie in the ‘Divergent’ franchise admittedly looks pretty good. Not having seen the first, a lot of the plot points are out of context for me, however, it makes me want to watch the first one. Not that many whiny teen soap opera moments that I can see from the trailer, however the inclusion of supporting casts like Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Ashley Judd, Maggie Q and others definitely peaks my interest.

THE GUNMAN (March 20th, 2015)

Move over Liam Neeson, Sean Penn is gonna blow you out of the water. The usually straight faced serious actor goes majorly mainstream with what looks to be a very formulaic action movie. While nothing about the story or anything else looks original or even that majorly interesting… the best thing about  this is that it’s a jacked up Sean Penn going around kick ass and blowing shit up!

DANNY COLLINS (March 20th, 2015)

Al Pacino returns as an aging and famous pop singer riding on his own coattails from the past, trying to reconnect with family and reinvent himself as an artist. Pacino is still awesome, and while he’s going for a sort of romantic comedy type of thing here, it looks interesting and witty enough to check out, especially with his rapport with Annette Benning.

GET HARD (March 27th, 2015)

The current comedic heartthrob teams with with a legend, as Kevin Hart & Will Ferrel take on a somewhat unique premise which in all honesty looks to be a decent comedy, while not resorting to potty or foul mouthed humour, if one ignores the title at least.

HOME (March 27th, 2015)

Sheldon from ‘The Big Bang Theory’ voicing a well meaning, but accident prone alien on the run from his own people for being a klutz? I’m down. This looks genuinely sweet and hilarious, while Parsons seems to be playing a character similar to that of his sitcom, but the setting and premise look interesting enough to watch.

SERENA (March 27th, 2015)

While not my usual cup of tea, ‘Serena’ seems to be a love story set in frontier times with a lot more going for it. The Trailer was cut in such a way that I’m actually interested in finding out more about the story and the characters, so job well done! Plus the pairing of these two is always fireworks!

WHILE WE’RE YOUNG (March 27th, 2015)

I love that Ben Stiller has toned down his brand of in your face comedy and has switched to more endearing and situational black comedies with a film like this. It’s an endearing look into a couple flirting with getting older and how they feel when in contrast to a younger spirited couple. Watts & Stiller also seem to have great chemistry and I’m genuinely excited to see how it all plays out.

Interesting lineup. I seriously doubt I’ll be seeing any of these in theaters as we just don’t go too often. We’ll almost certainly go in May when the next Avengers movie comes out. We might make an exception in April with Furious 7. Not too sure about anything else.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to ya Wendell.
Yea, I agree with you. This month wasn’t that interesting at all. And Like you, I’m sure I’m gonna catch up the entire year’s movie watching in the summer which will feature all the heavy hitters starting with Avenger’s Age Of Ultron.
