Trailer Talk: JANUARY 2015
Welcome to 2015’s first instalment of TRAILER TALK, a regular monthly feature where I take a look at the Trailers for movies upcoming in that month and see what’s worth checking out, and what can be skipped. It’s also a chance for you let me know which movie of the month you’re most interested in. So check out these Trailers and share your thoughts below.
TAK3N (January 9th, 2015)
Liam Neeson returns in the franchise that made him an action star. After the 1st two movies, don’t people know not to screw around with this guy yet? Looking like ‘The Fugitive’ with Harrison Ford, ‘Taken 3’ has everything you’d want to see Neeson kick ass.
BLACKHAT (January 16th, 2015)
I just find it a little hard to believe Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, as a computer hacker who happens to look like a model and can kick serious ass. Although, it’s a Michael Mann film, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
THE WEDDING RINGER (January 16th, 2015)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtoJ7fQBRF8
This looks suspiciously like ‘Hitch’ but without the relatable situations and a premise that’s really hard to buy into. Seems like Kevin Hart’s carrying the whole thing himself.
PADDINGTON (January 16th, 2015)
This is probably the month’s wholesome family movie, and looks to be quite fun and pretty hilarious judging by the Trailer alone. At least in a family, kiddy kind of way.
ESCOBAR: PARADISE LOST (January 16th, 2015)
Even though it’s got Benicio Del Toro in is playing an infamous mobster, the movie doesn’t look intriguing enough to drum up any interest in me. The Trailer itself felt like it was 1 minute too long, so I can only imagine how the movie might end up feeling. Josh Hutcherson seems to have moved up to more adult films though.
SPARE PARTS (January 16th, 2015)
Based on a true story stuff really gets to me with it’s inspiration musical flourish and underdog quality. And ‘Spare Parts’ is no different. This will the stuff of emotional tear jerking gold!
STILL ALICE (January 16th, 2015)
What a stunning trailer for a movie that will definitely create Awards season buzz. Julianne Moore looks brilliant and the supporting cast of Kristen Stewart & Alec Baldwin don’t look much less than her. Should be an emotional good time.
THE BOY NEXT DOOR (January 23rd, 2015)
So this is one of those lover turned psychopath situations of fatal attraction with Jennifer Lopez as the sexy older teacher who sleeps with her underage high school student, almost the same age as her own son. The Trailer is full of creepy ‘your mom’ comments after they’ve obviously slept together. The whole thing creeps me out.
MORTDECAI (January 23rd, 2015)
An all out British spy comedy with Johnny Depp (in the least makeup he’s had in his last 5 movies) that reminds one of ‘Pink Panther’? Why yes please!
BLACK SEA (January 23rd, 2015)
Jude Law has become one of those guys who does very few movies, but they’re indie genius! ‘Black Sea’ seems like an intriguingly suspenseful thriller… under water!
PROJECT ALMANAC (January 30th, 2015)
For a rip-off of ‘Chronicle’, this looks pretty interesting, simply because it features Time Travel, which is a movie geek’s Kryptonite calling to us to take it in, despite the possible shiftiness of the movie itself. The performances look especially atrocious.
