Trailer Talk: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (2017) – Hooked All Over Again!

One of Marvel Studios best movies in their connected cinematic universe was the surprise hit ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’. The movie about obscure comic book heroes was a massive success and has now become one of the audience’s favourite MCU films. With a sequel to be released next year in 2017, Director James Gunn provides a sneak peak into the film, before the launch of its official trailer.

Check out the teaser for ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ below.

‘Guardians of The Galaxy’ was about a human boy, kidnapped and raised in outer space to become a thug for hire, who hooks up with a ragtag group of anti heroes who reluctantly  end up stopping a galactic threat from destroying the universe. The movie was a critical and commercial hit due to its amazing cast and light hearted, self deprecating tone that never took things too seriously, while still telling a story that was heartwarming, all juxtaposed with 90’s pop music and a devil-may-care tone to the whole thing.

A TV actor, a CGI Raccoon & Tree and a wrestler would obviously raise eyebrows, so the director plays to this by being so off the wall in a big budget Marvel Studio film, that it disarms any misgivings or apprehension one may have had about the movie going into it.

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Review

The very brief teaser of the sequel showcases the best attributes of the original film, and gives the fans exactly what they want to see. With glimpses of all the original characters from Chris Pratt’s Star Lord donning his mask, to Zoe Saldana’s Gamora engaging in, what looks to be an elaborate action sequence, to Rocket Racoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) blowing things up and Dave Batista’s Drax being just as clueless as usual. It’s a great throwback to the characters we ended up loving, and it instantly brings a smile to your face. Or make you want a hug.

The rag tag group of criminals and assassins expands as new characters are added to ‘Volume 2’., but ones who will still be familiar to fans of the first film. Michael Rooker’s Yondu, former foster-father and rescuer of Star Lord ends up joining the crew, as well as former enemy and Gamora’s foster sister, Karen Gillian’s Nebula. And of course Vin Deisel’s Groot is also there, although in his new baby form. Incidentally, the Yondu character from the comics was part of the original ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ comic series.

How these new members to the group, formerly enemies, come together is going to be very interesting to watch. Although not as surprising, given that the original group weren’t too fond of one another to begin with. Although there are also amazing new additions to the cast such as Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell, otherwise known as ‘Tango And Cash’.

While there has been no mention of what kind of story the sequel will feature, or what adventures the gang will go on, (most likely to be revealed in the first full trailer) it’s awesome as hell to see the return of the movie that was quite possibly the funnest of the Marvel films to date.
