Trailer Talk: FEBRUARY (2015)

Published by Shah Shahid on

Welcome to TRAILER TALK for February 2015. It’s an interesting list of movies this month, although most aren’t that anticipated, but there is one or two that looks incredible. My Movie of the month is ‘Jupiter Ascending’. Go through all the Trailers below and be sure to let me know which movie you’re looking forward to the most.

JUPITER ASCENDING (February 6th, 2015)

This is a big one. The creators of ‘The Matrix’ Trilogy’s next movie after ‘Cloud Atlas’. Channing Tatum’s next movie after his critically acclaimed performance in ‘Foxcatcher’. And Eddie Redmayne fresh off of his Golden Globe winning role in ‘The Theory Of Everything’ playing what looks like the villain in this epic space opera. Although, Tatum’s blond beard looks weird.

SEVENTH SON (February 6th, 2015)

Another young adult fantasy movie based on some successful books. The only difference here seems to be the great supporting cast in this like Jeff Bridges & Julianne Moore following up her Golden Globes win for ‘Still Alice’. While interesting, it doesn’t look any different from the other movies of the same genre.

THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE OUT OF WATER (February 6th, 2015)

Oh yea! A live action CGI Spongebob movie? Yes please. Spongebob is one of those shows that are appropriate for both adults and kids alike, and the movie seems to be full of superhero genre references that is the massively successful trend these days. Even the title is a play on the typical here of ‘fish out of water’ type of stories.

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE (February 13th, 2015)

This movie is a must watch for a couple of reasons. The director is Matthew Vaughn, the man who brought ‘X-Men: First Class’ to life and reinvigorated that franchise. And it’s another Mark Millar comic book adapted by the same guy who also did ‘Kick-Ass’, and from the trailer ‘Kingsman’ looks to do just that.

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY (February 13th, 2015)

So it’s that time when that soft core porn book (so they say) has been adapted into an even more controversial movie dealing with some scandalous content. While I have no interest in this movie, I’m cringing at the thought of the inevitable barrage of similar films once this movie even breaks even in terms of Box Office results.

THE LAST 5 YEARS (February 13th, 2015)

Anna Kendrick can’t seem to stop singing apparently, as she’s back in this musical relationship love story that doesn’t appeal to me at all. The entire trailer is singing except maybe 2 lines of dialogue, so I don’t even know what the story is about to even try to be interested in this.

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE 2 (February 20th, 2015)

While the first movie had a semblance of storyline, this sequel to the somewhat funny original is just crossing all lines of established time travel and bringing out the funny, seemingly despite any logic or common sense. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

THE DUFF (February 20th, 2015)

Another teen high school ugly duckling movie about the jock falling for the least likely girl in school. *yawn*. Although Robbie Amell from ‘The Flash’ is in this and he looks like the only genuinely straight laced thing in the damn movie.

MCFARLAND, USA (February 20th, 2015)

A Disney movie based on a true story about something sports related set decades ago with Kevin Costner? Despite not having anything original about it from ALL the rest of these types of movies, mostly produced by Disney as well, I’m still down for this! I’m a suck for this.

FOCUS (February 27th, 2015)

After a string of questionable roles, Will Smith returns with a con / heist movie which is going to be highly anticipated for a big reason. The lead pair of ‘Focus’ also happens to be co-starring with each other in the comic book adaptation ‘Suicide Squad’. So their pairing and acting chops in this movie will definitely be watched by all as a means of determining if they’ve got the chops to carry beloved comic book characters.

LITTLE BOY (February 27th, 2015)

What a sweet trailer about a boy who believes he can do anything along with his relationship with his father played by Michael Rapaport. Despite some fantastical things happening, the movie does seem like an uplifting story, so I guess we’ll have to see how this one plays out.

MAP TO THE STARS (February 27th, 2015)

Rave reviews of yet another Julianne Moore performance makes this an interesting movie to look out for, not to mention that it’s another David Cronenberg thriller that looks to be intensely beautiful with a stellar cast.

EVERLY (February 27th, 2015) [ *WARNING* RED BAND TRAILER! ]

Sexy Salma Hayek in an apartment shooting a crap load of different guns and killing a shit load of people. That is basically what this movie seems to be about. I’m not complaining… it’s nice. Who doesn’t wanna see one of the hottest women in Hollywood shoot everything the entire movie?
