Trailer Talk: BROKEN HORSES (2015)

Published by Shah Shahid on

The barriers between Bollywood & Hollywood have been broken multiple times, with legitimate actors from Bollywood crossing over for movies in Hollywood, like Bollywood actor Irfan Khan in ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ (my Review here) and upcoming ‘Jurassic World’. While ethnicity doesn’t always play a factor, majority of these crossovers happen due to fulfilling a minority role, or in a story that is set in India (‘Slumdog Millionaire’) or with Indian character (‘Life Of Pi’) That is however, until now.

Broken Horses, written, produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra starring Vincent D'Onofrio, Anton Yelchin, Thomas Jane & Sean Patrick Flannery releasing April 10th, 2015

Director of back in the day Bollywood classics like ‘1942: A Love Story’ and producer of the massive commercial hits like ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S.’, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is directing his first Hollywood movie with an all star (kind of) Hollywood cast.

A story about two brothers set against a US-Mexico border gang war, ‘Broken Horses’ features very known Hollywood faces and some with major cult following like Anton Yelchin (‘Star Trek Into Darkness’), Vincent D’Onofrio, (‘Men In Black’) Thomas Jane, (‘The Punisher’) & Sean Patrick Flannery (‘The Boondock Saints’). A quick look at the movie’s IMDB page shows Jane & Yelchin’s character having the same last name, meaning they could be the brothers mentioned in the synopsis.

Despite being a Hollywood movie written, produced and directed by a Bollywood Director, Chopra insists that there is nothing Indian about the movie itself, which would be unprecedented and make ‘Broken Horses’ the first ever Hollywood film to be made by a Bollywood director. While interested, the picture above does show D’Onofrio with a ‘wtf is he talking about’ expression. But more importantly, it’s the inclusion of Anton Yelchin & Thomas Jane leading up the other cast that makes this movie appealing to me.

‘Broken Horses’ is set to release on April 10th, 2015. Let me know your thoughts below.
