The Trashiness Of The Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives Provides Honest Glimpses Into Bollywood Reality
It’s been almost 2 years since the last episode of the Split Screen Podcast. While I wish I could say the reasons were due to any mitigating circumstances, the honest truth is that Podcast Fade is a real thing, you guys. However, I’m very happy to announce that the newest episode of the podcast is now live. Unfortunately, the return is marred by the fact that it’s a review for the latest Netflix reality series, The Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives.
I am joined on this episode by my long-time collaborator and basically honorary co-host, Samarpita Dutta (@lipstickpatrol). Along with a first-time guest, Nim (@MapleBrownie).
The Reality Of This Bollywood Reality Show
Honestly, I wasn’t as offended with The Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives as I am with other reality shows. The show was technically proficient, without overtly manipulating the viewer’s emotions. The show is super self-aware; it knows it’s trash and revels in its trashiness. The very few glimpses of honest Bollywood reality from the husbands, Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, and Samir Soni were more interesting than anyone else on the screen. And Sohail Khan showed up too. I genuinely liked those moments, while still acknowledging that I’m a reality show novice, so they may not have been as juicy as others would like.
So obviously, a lot of the show is basically my schooling on Bollywood gossip by my more knowledgeable guests. I also ask them random questions, and they’re gracious enough to indulge my ignorance. We wrap up the episode by fan-casting season 2 of The Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives.
