After giving 2016’s biggest hit with ‘Sultan‘, Salman Khan reteams with Director Ali Abbas Zafar for another Yash Raj Films production, with the sequel of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ titled ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.

A story about a professional Indian spy, played by Salman Khan, who falls in love with a spy of an opposing nation, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ was a blockbuster film in 2012. The film was successful due to the use of a love story set in the back drop of an international spy organization with spectacular action and all the commercial elements of a blockbuster movie. While being an original story, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ had shades of ‘Mr. & Mrs Smith’ style premise, which resonated with Bollywood audiences.

The film also featured Katrina Kaif in very impressive action sequences in which the the actress, usually known more for her song sequences, is able to hold her own quite formidably.

EK THA TIGER becomes a completely humorous, light hearted and romantic love story with awesome helping of action and intrigue.

‘Ek Tha Tiger’ Review

5 years after the original, the leading duo of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif return to reprise their roles in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. The original film saw the spies from different organizations disappear into anonymity to live out their lives together. While not much is known about the story, the tagline of the first look poster, hints at their return to stop another threat.

Kabir Khan, who provided Khan’s previous big hit with ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, directed the original film, but doesn’t seem to be part of the sequel. Produced by Yash Raj films, the director for ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ is Ali Abbas Zafar, who worked with Khan with massive success in ‘Sultan’.

Given the beat by beat inspiration of sports movies that seem to have been the basis of ‘Sultan‘, I’m sure we will get some more Hollywood styled plot points or elements within ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, as well.

‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ starts shooting March 2017, for a December 22nd, 2017 release date.

Are you looking forward to the return of Salman & Katrina?
