Review: UDAAN Is A Slow Paced, Yet Breathtaking Piece Of Bollywood Cinema
Udaan is a slow moving, well paced, emotional coming of age movie that is truly a breathtaking piece of Bollywood cinema.
Reviews, features and editorials of movies & TV shows from the Indian Film Industry, most notably, Bollywood.
Udaan is a slow moving, well paced, emotional coming of age movie that is truly a breathtaking piece of Bollywood cinema.
Films like BREAK KE BAAD are what puts the Bollywood industry back years in terms of progress when it comes to telling good stories, love stories even…
TEES MAAR KHAN is the worst possible ‘con man’ movie in existence. You’d think that would give it some novelty… it doesn’t. It’s just bad.
The typical NRI moments, with scenes like the obligatory riding in the back of a truck in the village, is what makes TANU WEDS MANU another typical crap-a-rama of Bollywood proportions.
RAKHTA CHARITA pretty much solidifies the fact that Vivek Oberoi can’t act for shit, unless he’s directed by Ram Gopal Varma.
BAND BAJAA BAARAAT is a very unique film with a story that is quite original and has a lot of elements that make is suitable for everyone from families to even cynics that despise the conventional Bollywood love stories.
The narration in the beginning of JAANE TU… YA JAANE NA, mocks the formulaic aspects of an Indian love story, so it right away sets the tone for the rest of the film. And it actually works.
RAB NE BANA DI JODI was a great opportunity to showcase something different than the pretty fluttering hearts but failed completely.
The last of Shah’s old school reviews: “Out of all the films that I’ve reviewed on this website WATER is one that I would strongly recommend to anyone and everyone…!”
Probably one of the best Indian films depicting a war ridden Kashmir as the backdrop, YAHAAN is also horribly underrated. A must watch for anyone that’s in love with Kashmir. Also: Pardon my naivete in this review when it comes to thoughts on love and all. I was super young when I wrote this.
KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY is an utterly dull movie that continues long after it should’ve been over. A non existant story that drags on to the point of wanting to blind oneself.
Another unnecessarily long winded review from my writing days, 17 years ago: This is my Black movie review.
Vishal Bhardwaj has done some of the best films to come out of the Indian Film Industry ever. His most recent movie comes as an an exhibition of Priyanka Chopra’s talents in the form of 7 KHOON MAAF (SEVEN MURDERS FORGIVEN).
Another oldie. It’s been so long since I saw this movie, I actually almost forgot about this review. But I wrote this as well, like 6 years ago. Thankfully one of my shorter pieces from back then. Still contains a lot of irrelevant background info though. Bah. Old Shah (younger Shah) is so embarrassing.
A story of a linguistically handicapped teenager, IQBAL is about dreams, ambitions and one’s determination to achieve what might be out of reach.
Rang De Basanti was single handedly responsible for pulling Bollywood out of a decades-long slump.
Considering Salman Khan has been hugely successful recently with DABANNG and is coming out with another (apparently) funny philum, READY… I thought it’d be cool to take a look at an old review of one of his more ‘serious’ films: KYON KI…
PATIALA HOUSE is very unique and original, and is probably the best Indian sports movie that I’ve seen set in contemporary times…
Rajneeti movie review is a political thriller from Bollywood with an all-star cast that falls a little flat, but still enjoyable.
Once on a while comes a film that tends to break free of patterns established in conventional storytelling prior to it. Such a film comes in the form of Aamir Khan produced and Kiran Rao (his wife) directed DHOBI GHAT.
