Bollywood Trailer Talk: MARCH 2016 – The Dramatic Lives of Cops, Killers And Families

Published by Shah Shahid on

Bollywood has a few interesting releases this month. From commercial family story to a gritty cop drama, let’s take a look at the movies I’m most interested in this March 2016 from Bollywood. Be sure to let me know which of these movies you’ll be checking out this month.

JAI GANGAAJAL (March 4th, 2016)

An apparent sequel coming 13 years after the original, ‘Jai Gangaajal‘ doesn’t seem to have anything to do with its predecessor. Directed by Prakash Jha, who also debuts in a major role in this movie, ‘Jai Gangaajal‘ sees a strong willed cop in Priyanka Chopra who fights against a corrupt system. While Jha is a capable director, this seems to be another one of those movies that uses the name, but really isn’t a sequel in any way.

But given the international attention Chopra has received with ‘Quantico‘, it should be interesting to see her in a movie that goes against the grain of the usual movies she’s associated with.

KAPOOR AND SONS (March 18th, 2016)

The long awaited ‘Kapoor And Sons‘ releases this month and the trailer looks, decent. Looking to be an endearing family drama and brotherly rivalry, (‘cuz why not?) the movie is directed by Shakun Batra, director of ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu‘, which was interesting to say the least. The movie features a great cast of actors, with the exception of Siddharth Malhotra, who is as wooden and monotone as ever. Rishi Kapoor also appears with heavy prosthetics and make up to look older than he is, which makes no sense. Why not just cast an actual elderly man of that age to play the character?

The only saving grace of this movie may be Ali Bhatt, who has yet to disappoint with her filmography, with the exception of ‘Shaandaar’.

ROCKY HANDSOME (March 25h, 2016)

Weirdly enough, the teaser for this movie was a lot more impressive than this official trailer. A seemingly simple story about a killer with a heart of gold, the unique takeaway from the movie is its Director. The same guy who did the recent ‘Dhrishyam‘, which was impressive, will be directing John Abraham in this movie, as he also did with ‘Force‘. While not an amazing director, the guy does have some chops for dramatic and emotional storytelling. We’ll have to wait and see just how good, or bad, ‘Rocky Handsome‘ ends up being.
