Bollywood Trailer Talk: AUGUST 2015 – Revolutions, Brotherly Hate, Revenge On A Mountain & A Hit List For Justice
Bollywood is having another light month with very few, but intriguing releases. While mostly smaller independent films, August 2015 belongs to two major commercial movies, which look to kick ass both commercially as well as metaphorically. Take a look at all the Bollywood Trailers for August 2015, and be sure to comment on your favourite.
JAANISAAR (August 7th, 2015)
Another revolutionary story about pre-Independent India rears it’s head in a trailer that fails to divulge the story in any which way. Produced by Zee Music Company, it’s apparent that the songs of the film is the main focus. Starring newcomers with steely expressions, ‘Jaanisaar‘ looks lavishly made, which could be a case of more style than substance. The film looks more like a way to sell music albums than movie tickets, and the amaterish way that the Trailer is cut, it doesn’t even seem like they care.
BROTHERS (August 14th, 2015)
Remake of ‘Warrior‘, the Karan Malhotra (‘Agneepath‘) directed film has been getting a lot of buzz in recent times due to it being the second official remake of a Hollywood movie made into Bollywood. For more about this movie check out my in depth reaction to the trailer here.
ALL IS WELL (August 21st, 2015)
Abhishek Bachchan returns with an underwhelming comedy about a dysfuntional family road trip that tries to be just that, and does it way too hard. Co-starring Rishi Kapoor, the chemistry between the two leads look lukewarm. The love interest is played by Asin, who more or less disappeared from Bollywood despite a promising start. The film seems very lackluster with overly dramatic moments couple with overtly cheesy moments. However, this could easily be the result of a poorly cut trailer.
MANJHI: THE MOUNTAIN MAN (August 21st, 2015)
Based on a true story, this Nawazuddin Siddiqui movie features a very simple plot and an even simpler execution of it, but with a lot of heart. Nawazuddin is riding high after the success of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘ but this role allows him to stand out as the solo lead of a film. Director Ketan Mehta is responsible for the epic ‘Mangal Pandey‘, has shown his ability to handle epic topics spanning a large time frame. ‘Manjhi‘ also seems to showcase a range of emotions from Siddiqui and one hopes that the small movie does well.
PHANTOM (August 28th, 2015)
After the immense success of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘, Kabir Khan returns with another political thriller, similar to his other films. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, ‘Phantom’ promises to be a big budget and intense movie with lots of intrigue and glitz.
