Trailer Talk: BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG (2013)

Published by Shah Shahid on

I’m blown away yet again, twice in a week. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is a prolific Director and probably one of the most innovative Directors in Bollywood. Credited with single handedly bringing the Indian Industry out of its slump with the biggest commercial and critical success of 2006, and one of THE best movies of all time in RANG DE BASANTI… Mehra returns with another potentially awesome movie… BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG!

run forrest ru– wait. wrong movie…

This genius writer / director hooks up with yet another genius writer / director, but this time as an actor. BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG sees Farhan Akthar in the title role. The true story about a legendary Indian Sprinter who went to the Olympics in the 60’s, I think. It’s basically a biopic of this Indian Sikh who inspired millions. I’m excited about this movie for multiple reasons.

how awesome is this poster…?!

Firstly, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra blew us ALL away with RANG DE BASANTI. His first movie AKS was memorable and unique. His DELHI 6 was a miss, but appreciated by some. Despite it all his screenwriting and execution is always awesome and well thought out. So always excited about him helming a new project.

Secondly, Farhan Akthar is one of the best talents of his generation. A Director, Writer, Musician, Composer, Poet, Actor, Singer, Producer and who know how many other talents he’s got up his sleeve; a true Renaissance man. I always enjoy any movie he’s involved in, almost in any capacity. Taking the lead role of BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG is even more exciting, considering his entire look in the movie is purely authentic, no make up or prosthetics.

And last but not least, I’m supremely excited to see a Biopic from Bollywood. It’s a genre of film that’s been rarely explored in the industry. And when it has, it’s been bastardized to the point beyond recognition. I’m looking forward to BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG when it releases in July 12, 2013

What do you think of Farhan Akthar’s look in BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG?

It’s not as big a deal in Hollywood for actors to go out of their way for a role, but unfortunately it’s a huge deal still in the Indian Industry.

    Thanks for stopping by man!
